The McCloud Chamber of Commerce and the Great Shasta Rail Trail Association invite you to have a day of fun in historic McCloud. This year we've added mountain bike rides and kept the road bike ride to the dam. The rides are:
McCloud Dam Road Bike Ride - 30 miles (2-3 hrs) Moderate to Difficult
This very picturesque "rolling hills" ride begins on McCloud Main Street, through town onto Squaw Valley Road. Wind your way around McCloud Lake to the Dam and return. Fall colors and the Mt Shasta view are spectacular. One rest stop with food and water will be provided.
McCloud Scenic Short Road Bike Ride - 12.5 miles (1 hr) Easy to Moderate
The ride begins on Main Street, through town and onto Squaw Valley Road. The ride out to the turn-around rest stop at Friday's Resort is a gradual downhill. The return ride is, of course, gradual uphill back to downtown McCloud.
The Great Shasta Marathon Mountain Bike Ride - 30 miles (3 - 4 hrs) Moderate to Difficult
All riders meet in downtown McCloud at 8 am for registration. PROMPTLY at 8:30 am, riders are bused to Algoma Campsite with bikes following in a trailer. The first 13 miles are a moderate, somewhat technical single track on the McCloud River Trail. Full service Rest Stop at Lakin Dam, then onto Bigelow Meadow Road, crossing Highway 89 to connect to the Great Shasta Rail Trail. The ride ends in downtown McCloud.
McCloud Mountain Bike Short Ride - 12 miles (1 hr) Easy to Moderate
The ride begins on Main Street through town, crossing Pilgrim Creek Road and onto Great Shasta Rail Trail. Rest stop turn-around at a bridge over Mud Creek. Return to McCloud
